Common coverages and policy features

Exact coverage depends on the policy form, limits, deductibles, endorsements, exclusions, and carrier approval. These explanations are educational and do not replace the policy contract.

Bodily Injury Liability

Helps pay for injuries to other people when you are legally responsible for an accident, up to the policy limit. Florida does not require it for every driver, but it is an important protection and may be required in certain situations.

Property Damage Liability

Helps pay for damage you cause to someone else’s vehicle, building, fence, or other property. Florida generally requires at least $10,000 for registered vehicles.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Florida no-fault coverage that helps pay eligible medical expenses and certain lost income for you and covered people after an accident, regardless of who caused it, subject to the policy and state rules.

Collision

Helps repair or replace your insured vehicle after it hits another vehicle or object, regardless of fault, less your deductible. Lenders and lessors commonly require it.

Comprehensive

Helps cover non-collision damage to your vehicle, such as theft, vandalism, fire, flood, wind, falling objects, glass damage, or hitting an animal, less the deductible.

Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist

Helps protect you and covered occupants when an at-fault driver has no bodily injury liability coverage or not enough of it. Options and stacking rules should be reviewed carefully.

Auto Insurance: Frequently asked questions

What auto coverage is required in Florida?

For most registered vehicles, Florida requires at least $10,000 of PIP and $10,000 of property damage liability. Bodily injury liability is not universally required, but it may be required after certain violations or accidents and is often essential for meaningful protection.

What is the difference between liability and full coverage?

Liability pays eligible claims made by others when you are responsible. “Full coverage” is not a policy term; people usually mean liability plus comprehensive and collision, but limits and exclusions still matter.

Does PIP pay for damage to my car?

No. PIP addresses eligible injuries and certain lost income. Collision or comprehensive generally handles covered damage to your own vehicle, depending on what caused the loss.

Do I need uninsured motorist coverage?

It is optional in many situations, but it can protect against serious injury losses caused by a driver with little or no bodily injury liability insurance. Compare stacked and non-stacked options when available.

What deductible should I choose?

A higher comprehensive or collision deductible may lower premium but increases what you pay after a covered loss. Choose an amount you could comfortably pay on short notice.

Will a foreign driver license prevent me from getting insurance?

Not necessarily. Acceptance varies by carrier, driving history, license status, and how long you have been in the U.S. Some markets are more flexible than others.

Why does prior insurance matter?

A lapse, short insurance history, or low prior limits can affect eligibility and pricing. Give accurate effective dates so the policy does not start with an avoidable gap.

Does personal auto insurance cover delivery or rideshare work?

Often not fully. Personal policies may exclude or limit business, delivery, or rideshare use. The vehicle use must be disclosed so the correct endorsement or commercial option can be considered.

Does submitting the form create a policy?

No. The form starts the review. Coverage exists only after the carrier approves the risk, the terms are accepted, payment requirements are met, and the effective date is confirmed.

How does TerraBridge help with this decision?

TerraBridge gathers the initial context, checks markets available for auto insurance, and explains relevant coverages, limits, deductibles, and tradeoffs. Final approval and issuance remain subject to carrier underwriting.

Insurance products are subject to underwriting approval, carrier availability, eligibility, terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions. Submitting a request does not bind coverage, guarantee a quote, or create an insurance policy. Coverage is only effective when confirmed by the applicable carrier or authorized platform.
